Geology Courses in India-Geology Jobs

Indian School of Mines is the most prestigious organization that offers courses in Geology. Five year integrated MSc (Tech) Applied Geology; three year MSc Tech Geology courses are available in Indian School of Mines. Candidates who complete their courses in this institute can get placements in popular Geology organizations. Notification for admission into Indian School of Mines is issued in January and entrance test is conducted in May.

Geology in IITs

IIT-Mumbai, IIT-Roorkee are also offering MSc Applied Geology course which is of two year duration. IIT-Kharagpur is offering Geology Joint MSc-PhD course. IIT-Roorkee is also offering MTech Geological Technology course.

Eligibility: Eligibility to apply for geology post graduate courses is passing in Intermediate with Mathematics and Graduation with Geology as one subject. Along with Geology the candidate should have studied any two of Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry/Botany/Zoology subjects. Marks percentage in graduation should be at least 55%. For SC/ST candidates marks percentages is 50%. Admissions will be given based on the score in JAM.

Every year UPSC conducts Geologist Exam. Post Graduates in Geology are eligible for this exam. Age of the candidate should be between 21-30 years. Notification is issued in every December. Selected candidates are offered jobs in Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines, Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources etc.
